As a director, you will play a key role in shaping the direction of the association by contributing to AETSA events and initiatives. With nine portfolios and over twenty director positions to choose from, there's something for everyone.

Director of Business Partnerships

Alongside the Vice-President of Corporate, The Director of Business Partnerships is responsible for identifying partnerships that provide value to Telfer students. This role represents the bridge between the Association and outside businesses to partner and support the student discount program, student appreciation days and event catering opportunities alike. The director is responsible for researching and evaluating businesses that can provide value to students as well as building a value proposition for the prospective partner to ensure mutual value for both parties. Once a business has been identified as a valuable prospect, the director is responsible for reaching out to the company for partnership. The role demands the use of strong organizational abilities to properly manage multiple partnerships, effective written/oral communication, salesmanship and creative thinking to provide high-value opportunities, as well as summer availability.

Director of Corporate Relationships

Alongside the Vice-President of Corporate, The Director of Corporate relations is responsible for securing and maintaining sponsorship to enhance and fund the Association's events and initiatives, representing the bridge between the corporate world and the Association. The director is viable for identifying companies that can provide value to students attending the Association's flagship events such as Networking for Tomorrow. Beyond the initial company research, the director is responsible for crafting compelling value propositions and identifying the best method of contact for outreach (linkedin, email, personal contact, etc). The role requires strong professional communication skills, salesmanship to negotiate sponsorships and quality organizational skills to properly maintain rapport with sponsors, as well as summer availability.

Director of Presidential Affairs (Bilingual)

The Director of Presidential Affairs plays an important role in supporting the executive functions of the Telfer Students’ Association. Working closely with the President to fulfill various administrative functions, they ensure the smooth operation of internal and external day-to-day activities. The Director of Presidential Affairs shadows the President in meetings, providing valuable contributions to decision-making processes. During the summer, the Director of Presidential Affairs acts as the 101-week coordinator, playing a major role in the planning of our 101-week. Additional responsibilities may include research tasks, drafting internal and external messages, and contributing to the strategic planning and execution of other association initiatives. This position requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity, as the Director is entrusted with sensitive information and confidential matters. It is ideally suited for motivated, driven individuals seeking well-rounded experience across leadership, operations, and strategy in a fast-paced environment.

Director of Professional Affairs

The Director of Professional Affairs plays a key role in enhancing the academic and professional development of Telfer students through a variety of career-focused initiatives. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing impactful events such as the Professional Development Series, Student Appreciation Days, and Around the World Taste Test.

Director of Academics

As the Director of Academics, you will be responsible for overseeing the AETSA Scholarships. This includes continuing the development of a structured framework to introduce new scholarship categories, designing and refining application processes, facilitating the scholarship information sessions and ensuring fair and transparent selection criteria. You will also be responsible for anonymizing applications to maintain impartiality in the evaluation process. Additionally, you will take the lead in establishing and managing the Scholarship Committee for the upcoming academic year, ensuring an organized and ethical approach to scholarship distribution.

Director of Francophone Affairs

The Director of Francophone Affairs ensures that all French-speaking Telfer students are equally represented in all events, workshops and activities. Your responsibilities include translating key documents and correspondence, facilitating bilingual communication within the organization, and leading Semaine de la Francophonie, a week-long series of events celebrating French language and culture.

Director of International Student Relations

The Director of International Student Relations is responsible for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for international students at Telfer. Working closely with the Vice-President of Academic Affairs, you will play a key role in planning and executing major initiatives such as the Annual General Meeting and Student Appreciation Days. Collaborating with other directors to ensure the functionality of the portfolio as a whole is also expected.

Director of Club Events

The Director of Club Events supports the VP of Club Relations by overseeing major club-related events, including Clubs Fair, Club Olympics, PRTs, and the Clubs Gala. They will coordinate logistics, assist clubs in event planning, and work closely with the Director of Club Development to ensure events align with club needs. Additionally, they will maintain the clubs event calendar to improve organization and avoid scheduling conflicts. This role is perfect for someone with strong organizational skills, event planning experience, and a passion for bringing students together through engaging events.

Director of Club Development

The Director of Club Development supports the VP of Club Relations in ensuring Telfer clubs have the resources and guidance they need to succeed. This role focuses on internal relations with clubs, assisting with operations, implementing initiatives, and gathering feedback from executives. They will work closely with the Director of Club Events to align development efforts with major events. Additionally, they will assist the VP of Club Relations with any administrative tasks that arise. This position is ideal for someone with experience in Telfer clubs who understands their challenges and is passionate about supporting club leaders.

Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The Director of EDI is responsible for leading and overseeing all EDI initiatives within the faculty. This includes developing, coordinating, and delivering educational workshops and events that promote inclusivity, awareness, and meaningful engagement. Programming includes mandatory sessions on topics such as sexual assault prevention, reconciliation, and inclusive language, as well as additional initiatives that address broader equity, diversity, and inclusion issues. The Director collaborates with students, faculty, and community partners to assess needs and design relevant, impactful programming. They recruit and supervise facilitators or guest speakers, manage the EDI funds, and support fellow directors in integrating EDI principles into their initiatives. The Director also evaluates program effectiveness through feedback and identifies opportunities to expand and strengthen the faculty’s EDI efforts.

Director of Equity Funds

Responsible for managing fund committees that oversee financial support for student participation in paid events and case competitions. This role involves recruiting and training committee members, ensuring they understand funding objectives and criteria to make fair and transparent decisions. The director also  oversees the funding application process, providing guidance to students and ensuring requests are reviewed equitably. Additionally, they collaborate with departments and organizations to identify further funding opportunities, maximizing the impact of available resources. Basic spreadsheet skills are considered an asset for this position.

Director of Finance x3

The Director of Finance works directly with the VP Finance to manage AETSA’s internal financial operations by assisting with budget preparation, maintaining financial records, preparing the UOSU audits and other ad hoc tasks. They are also responsible for conducting audits for all Telfer student clubs, reviewing financial statements, and providing feedback to ensure the clubs are financially compliant, transparent, and operating efficiently. Additionally, they support the financial planning of major AETSA events, such as 101-Week, Telfer Formal, and the overall planning of the Networking for Tomorrow event. This role requires strong analytical skills, a constant desire to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with student leaders to ensure effective financial management across AETSA and its clubs.

Director of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for managing AETSA’s HR operations, ensuring policies and practices align with organizational values while fostering a fair and inclusive work environment. This role balances administrative responsibilities with strategic HR initiatives to support employee well-being and engagement. Key duties include recording and maintaining accurate records of General Council meeting minutes and overseeing the entry of member engagement hours into the Engagement Navigator system. The Director also addresses HR-related issues, such as conflict resolution, grievances, and performance management, serving as a key resource for general council members seeking guidance. Additionally, this role ensures strong communication between the HR department and the General Council, keeping leadership informed and aligned with HR initiatives. By upholding ethical standards and prioritizing employee support, the Director of HR plays an essential role in cultivating a productive and positive workplace.

Director of Internal Growth

The Director of Internal Growth is dedicated to strengthening AETSA’s internal community by fostering team cohesion, engagement, and morale. This role focuses on creating a positive workplace culture where members feel valued, connected, and motivated. A major aspect of this role is organizing activities that build strong relationships among members, including planning General Council social events such as team outings and bonding activities. The Director also manages the budgeting process for these events, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently. Additionally, this role serves as a communication link, keeping the General Council informed about internal growth initiatives and upcoming engagement opportunities.By promoting collaboration and inclusivity, the Director of Internal Growth enhances team dynamics and contributes to a workplace culture that prioritizes meaningful connections and shared success. The Director also helps out with the Telfer store.

Director of Public Relations and Community Engagement (Bilingual)

The Director of Public Relations & Community Engagement is responsible for expanding AETSA’s visibility beyond social media and strengthening its reputation across the Telfer community and broader campus. This role leads external publicity efforts by developing event promotion strategies, coordinating printed and in-class announcements, managing external communications, and collaborating with clubs and community creators. They oversee cross-club representation, collect submissions, and draft formal announcements, newsletters, and event descriptions. In addition, they drive community engagement through member initiatives, alumni and student spotlights, word-of-mouth promotion, feedback collection, and retention strategies within the telfer community. This role owns AETSA’s external visibility, partnerships, and community reputation. Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills, along with familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Canva, email marketing platforms, and basic project management systems, are considered assets.

Director of Content Creation

The Director of Content Creation is responsible for shaping AETSA’s voice, storytelling, and overall creative direction. This role develops campaign themes, defines brand tone and messaging, establishes content pillars, structures the weekly digest, and produces event summaries. They lead creative production by planning video concepts, storyboarding, scripting, filming, editing, conducting interviews, and overseeing storytelling initiatives and feature series. In collaboration with the Director of Digital Media and under the oversight of the VP Marketing, they ensure all content aligns with AETSA’s brand identity and quality standards. This role owns what AETSA says and the creative content it produces. Experience in content strategy, video production, and digital storytelling, proficiency in tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar software, and bilingual communication skills (English/French) are considered strong assets.

Director of Visual Design

The Director of Visual Design is responsible for maintaining AETSA’s visual identity and ensuring consistent, high-quality design across all materials. This role creates event posters, social media graphics, templates, branded layouts, and promotional or merchandise designs as required. They develop, update, and enforce brand guidelines while ensuring visual alignment with campaign messaging and organizational standards. This role owns how AETSA looks visually across platforms. Strong graphic design skills, attention to detail, and experience using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and digital asset management systems are considered assets.

Director of Digital Media Management

The Director of Digital Media Management is responsible for managing AETSA’s digital presence and optimizing performance across all platforms. This role oversees content scheduling and publishing, manages social media accounts, maintains the website, and ensures event pages and information remain accurate and up to date. They will also create ticket sale forms and event pages in coordination with various AETSA portfolios to streamline event promotion and registration.They monitor and engage with online audiences through comments, direct messages, stories, and broadcast channels, while maintaining a professional and consistent brand presence. Additionally, they track analytics, report performance metrics to the VP Marketing, and recommend improvements to platform and posting strategies. This role owns where AETSA’s content lives and how it performs. Experience with social media management, analytics, and website platforms, along with familiarity with tools such as Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, wix studio and content scheduling software, is considered an asset.

Director of Social Affairs x2

Responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events by working closely with the VP Social Affairs to enhance the Telfer community. This includes managing logistics such as venue booking, catering, permits, scheduling events, and handling theme, name, and décor planning. They also book and attend meetings with the VP Social, follow up on behalf of the Social Team, and lead Slack communications for event coordination. Additionally, they oversee day-of operations and collect feedback from attendees to improve future events.

Director of Philanthropy

Responsible for leading AETSA’s charitable initiatives by planning and executing key events such as Philanthropy Day, Movember, and Wellness Week, while also organizing monthly donation drives to support various causes. They work closely with the Directors of Social Affairs when available, and represent AETSA at UOSU Philanthropic Round Tables. Additionally, they must reside in Ottawa for at least three out of four summer months, as per AETSA bylaws, to effectively oversee and contribute to philanthropic efforts throughout the year.
